will it ever end? good question. // 6/16/23
do you ever find yourself in a situation where you wonder if it's ever going to end? you do your best to rise above the fear, to forgive the one who hurt you, to stop automatically assuming the worst, to get your focus off financial challenges...on and on it goes. it seems that everyone has at least one thing they deal with that they would seemingly do anything for it to be lifted off of them.
so, what do you do?
first, stop beating yourself up. you don't have time or energy to waste on being hard on yourself. that's just going to be one more thing you have to process through to get to a better place. just own it and start taking the steps to get yourself to a better place.
there are going to be times when the last thing you feel like doing is stepping forward, but staying where you are is destroying you from the inside out. the anger isn't hurting the other person nearly as much as it's eating you alive. the fear isn't stopping anyone else from living their life, but it's telling you on a daily basis that you won't ever be above this. the worry over finances isn't bringing in more income and it's not allowing you to trust the One who supplies all your needs, according to His riches in glory.
it's time to stop. it's time to take captive those thoughts and make them obedient to what the Word of God says. it's time to cast down those vain imaginations, arrest those automatic negative thoughts and replace them with His truth. it's time to focus on the good things, the blessings, every single positive you can identify in your circumstance.
is it easy? no. you didn't get fearful, angry, doubtful overnight. it came from time after time of allowing those negative thoughts to hold you captive. it's going to take a minute to train your mind to think on the things that are of a good report. BUT IT IS POSSIBLE. IT IS POSSIBLE. IT IS POSSIBLE. one thought at a time. one choice at a time. bearing down and not giving in to the negativity that tries to stay your natural mindset.
make a list. make a list of all the things that usually flow through that mind of yours, that attempts to defeat you, that causes you to stay stuck. next to those thoughts, write out what the Lord would have you say to yourself instead. write out what the Word says. be purposeful. be committed. be determined. be willing. be diligent.
arrest those thoughts. replace them with the truth of God's word. repeat. how many times? until the ones you've been having to arrest are no longer the first ones that come to mind. until the truth of His Word begins rising to your surface, until you can look at that fear in the face and tell it to go back to hell where it belongs. you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. He is your refuge and your strength; a very present help in times of trouble. He is on your side, He is your source. He will walk with you through the process and progress. you are an overcomer.
arrest. replace. repeat.
will it ever end? you have the answer. it's up to you.
